The Grünwalder Einkehr was renovated and expanded only 13 years ago.

But owner Arabella Schörghuber has now sold the property.

The demolition is imminent.

Grünwald

- It should stir many people like a thunder: The Grünwalder Einkehr will be demolished.

Owner Arabella Schörghuber had sold the property, now three residential buildings are to be replaced.

The community wants to do everything to preserve the appearance of the northern entrance to the town to some extent.

For this purpose, the local council has now unanimously decided to draw up a development plan, and a ban on changes will be issued.

Grünwalder Einkehr is demolished: "The last resort to get on the right track"

According to Mayor Jan Neusiedl (CSU), these two measures document to Münchner Merkur, “how seriously we take the situation.

For us it is the last resort to get on an orderly path. ”However, he left no doubt that the consensus would be sought with the new owner.

The architectural character of the surroundings must be taken into account in the new building.

Last year the owner sold the Einkehr, in February the new owners submitted specific plans for a new building, 14 apartments are to be replaced by the Einkehr, spread over three buildings.

The planners are also planning an underground car park with 28 parking spaces.

Grünwalder Einkehr: First the major renovation, now the end

It was only 13 years ago that the owners at the time had rebuilt the 3722 square meter building and expanded it with over 400 spaces in the restaurant and around 100 spaces in the tavern garden.

For the gastronomy, the stop has no longer been worthwhile in recent years.

In addition, Peter Pongratz and Arabella Schörghuber's marriage was divorced three years ago.

Pongratz had to give up the business and reoriented himself until fate played along with him terribly at the end of last year.

He fell into a coma after an operation and has been in the intensive care unit ever since.

Arabella Schörghuber tried in recent years to successfully pursue gastronomy.

Apparently, the concept could not be implemented, at least she parted ways with the Grünwalder Einkehr in the first Corona year.

Grünwalder Einkehr has a long tradition: first mentioned in a document 850 years ago

From the point of view of the municipality, this square plays an eminently important role for the place, because it is one of the oldest settlement centers in Geiselgasteig.

The Einkehr was first mentioned in a document around 850 years ago.

A few hundred years later, in 1726, Duke Wilhelm of Bavaria acquired the property.

He had a Schwaige built on the farm and leased the property to farmers, as was explained in the local council.

Almost a hundred years ago, Einkehr Geiselgasteig was born as a Biedermeier-style restaurant.

Even if houses were added later in the area, the character at the entrance to Grünwald has been preserved to this day, as Anija Schlichenmaier from the building authority explained.

While the chapel is listed as an architectural monument, this does not apply to the Grünwalder Einkehr, which after several renovations, except for the archway, hardly contains any of the original parts.

The image that now dominates there should also be shown in the future according to the will of the municipality - lashed by specifications of the wall and ridge heights, the cubature and much more.

Over for Grünwalder Einkehr: No monument protection for the inn

The Bavarian Office for the Preservation of Monuments, the district home keeper, the community and the new owners have already met on site with the result: As a single building, the Einkehr does not enjoy any monument protection.

Only one street ensemble could possibly be recognized here.

The State Monument Council will now decide on this.

That could take half a year or even longer.

Mayor Neusiedl: "We want to preserve the ensemble structure in any case, regardless of whether there is a restaurant, apartments or offices." It must also be examined whether an underground car park on the Grünwalder Isar slope can be realized at all.

"It's not the easiest piece of land in Grünwald, right next to the FFH area."

Another question still needs to be clarified, namely whether purely residential development is possible in the mixed area there.

Neusiedl: "We are still at the very beginning." Alexander Steininger (CSU) emphasized at the end how important this area is for Grünwald.

For him, this includes maintaining the impression of the building as well as the chestnuts that surround the parking lot and form a natural facade.

The community advocate believes that this goal can be achieved.

After a long wait, the general practitioners in the Munich district finally have the corona vaccine.

But there are hardly any vaccinators left.

A curious search begins.

And the Kreissparkasse München-Starnberg-Ebersberg is closing five branches in the district and converting them into pure self-service locations without a personal contact person.

By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our new, regular District Munich newsletter.
