Once again, some of the 100 or so employees at the US Hotel Edelweiss Lodge & Resort are busy.
The internal Thanksgiving celebration last November caused a lack of understanding among employees (we reported).
The current occasion: Two conferences will take place in the next few days in the complex between Gernackerstrasse and Kreuzeckbahnstrasse - from the end of March "single soldiers" will meet there, and from April 10th there will again be representatives of the US Army, but then with families.
According to reports, well over 100 participants have already registered for the first conference.
For the second, around 70 have been accredited so far.
However, it is not yet known how many spouses and children are coming.

The hotel manager has already announced in an email to his team that something is going on in the hotel.
On the part of the US Army Europe, which is based in Stuttgart-Vaihingen, and the responsible garrison, the house will be reopened for business trips and thus also for conferences on March 28th.
The letter is available to the editorial team - with the anonymous addition “this must not be”, with several exclamation marks.
Apparently the employees do not feel adequately informed and are accordingly unsettled.
Much to the regret of press officer Donald Wrenn.
"We encourage all employees to turn their concerns to the manager." Of course, the reopening will take place in accordance with the requirements of the German authorities.
The Edelweiss employees are apparently not convinced of this.
They fear that corona rules will be disregarded.
“How can a champagne reception with finger food take place during these times?” Asks someone who does not want to be named.
In addition, “only a small proportion of the employees, managers and cooks already have a corona vaccination,” another employee is indignant.

Daniel Schimmer, local spokesman for the Bavarian Hotel and Restaurant Association, does not judge the matter quite as dramatically.
"We are also allowed to open for conferences and business trips." A small ray of hope for the colleagues who have otherwise been unable to receive guests since November 2, 2020 due to the lockdown.
“Anyone with a professional background is allowed to travel,” emphasizes Schimmer.
On the two World Cup weekends, for example, his house, the Garmischer Hof, also benefited from this.
And federal police officers who are deployed at the border are currently staying in a Mittenwald hotel.
This also applies to the construction industry, says district administration spokesman Wolfgang Rotzsche, giving another example.
“If it has a professional character, it's not a problem.” He cannot comment on the events at the Edelweiss Lodge & Resort.
Although the district authority knows about it, further details are not available.
But according to Rotzsche, it doesn't have to be at all.
Schimmer cannot understand why the Edelweiss employees are worried about receiving finger food.
“It is served on plates or spoons and only ends up with the person who actually wants to consume it.” A buffet is much more problematic.
Army spokesman assured: Corona rules should be strictly adhered to
In the meantime, Wrenn never tires of reassuring how hard his compatriots try to comply with all Corona rules.
“This is enforced by hotel management and employees, as well as senior military personnel who attend the events.” The safety and health of employees, their families and the entire community is a concern for the Americans.
Wrenn refers to the developed hygiene concepts that are being used again: "These have proven to be effective and safe." It is now also important to convince the hotel employees, who are still worried about the fear of a corona infection.
Last year, the “Edelweiss Lodge & Resort” hotel in Garmisch-Partenkirchen was considered a hotspot after a coronavirus outbreak.
Two other hotels also suffered - because they have the same name.
