With the new construction of the Michael-Ende-Elementary School, she wants to slim down 20 million euros.
After the costs had exploded to 70.7 million, the city rethought and set a cost limit of 50 million euros.
The city councils have discussed the new building 22 times in the past five years.
In between, they wanted to build apartments on the roof, then rooms for the music school and town band were integrated, and costs rose.
With the corona crisis came the rethink.
Some city councilors wanted to drop the new building plans entirely for the time being.
In the budget discussions, the city council agreed on a new course: the school will be built, but 50 million euros will have to be enough.
"Very ambitious schedule"
The architects have now received a three million fee for planning, which is now being heavily revised, which in turn costs money.
Mayor Christoph Böck (SPD) wants to drive the project forward, the architects are also pulling along and presenting a “very ambitious schedule”.
The property and building committee lets the planners examine various potential savings.
A key point is the idea of changing the school concept.
The state capital Munich and the Bavarian Ministry of Social Affairs and Culture have developed the model project “Cooperative all-day education”, in which teachers and social pedagogues work closely together in an educational partnership and use the entire school building.
Parents can flexibly book childcare for their child on a daily or hourly basis until 6 p.m. at the latest.
There is no minimum booking time, parents can also rely on childcare offers during the holiday periods.
Does the social committee have a say in the school concept?
With this concept, after-school care and lunchtime care would no longer exist in their previous form.
Up to now, separate rooms were provided for both facilities, which would then be superfluous.
The staff could be trained in-service and switch to the cooperative full-time.
However, no decision has yet been made, and the social welfare committee also has a say in the school concept.
It is also being examined whether the currently 47 underground parking spaces and storage areas in the basement can be reduced.
So far, the music school and city band are to be integrated into the building, now it is considered whether these external users will possibly be taken into account in a later construction phase.
Eventually, the music school could later be expanded to include the gym.
Another approach is to reduce the classroom size from 75 to 68 square meters.
"That's not nice, but ..."
The planners want to present the interim results in May.
If resolutions are passed quickly, the old gym can be demolished and the construction site set up in January 2022.
If everything goes according to plan, the new building will be ready by 2025 at the latest.
Brigitte Weinzierl (CSU) addressed the request that the old gymnasium should not be demolished until after Easter if possible: "Halls are particularly needed in Unterschleißheim in winter." During the construction phase, primary school students are taken to the FOS / BOS for physical education classes by bus .
"That's not nice, but if we want to save money, we can't always make the best of the best," said Böck.
Jürgen Radtke (Greens), the schedule seems “like a wild ride” that one can “never and never” adhere to, especially since all sides have to be discussed about the school concept.
Böck replied: “We don't make any decisions, we start the investigations.” You should work in parallel so as not to lose even more time.
