The Minister of Interior, Major General Muhammad Al-Rahmoun, confirmed that the purpose of the new civil status law issued by President Bashar Al-Assad today is to build a central electronic database that includes all governorates and includes the unity of the national number, as every citizen is represented by one civil registration at the level of the country from birth to the entire period of his life so that it becomes The database when starting to implement the law is more dynamic, which will positively affect the citizen and civil affairs employees, meaning that Syria will become a single civil registry trust.
Regarding the facilities that will be made available to the citizen through this law, Major General Rahmoun explained in contact with Al-Suriya TV that the issuance of this law simplifies procedures for the citizen so that he can complete all his transactions, including obtaining an ID and family card from the nearest center in his whereabouts without returning to his original place of registration. In addition, the recording of incidents will become immediate without delay, as the citizen can obtain the statement of the incident immediately after it is entered.
Rahmoun indicated that the law will reduce the workload of the employee because it has become computerized and saves time and effort for service authorities to obtain information by entering the civil registry database through the associated online portal. It will also allow adult and single children to obtain a family card instead of damaged or lost In the event of the death of the parents, divorce, or their absence for compelling reasons, while the matter was previously restricted to the legal guardian.
The minister pointed out that the law contributes to combating corruption and preventing forgery because the software is codified and the employee cannot make any personal effort on his part to enter information on the computer in light of the adoption of the national number only to complete all registration and obtain documents, as well as reduce human errors and end the problem of similarity of names. Because every citizen has one, not repeated, national number.
