A security camera recorded the moment when a truck hit a patrol car in a corner of
Lomas de Zamora.
Due to the force of the impact, the police cell phone ended up
destroyed and embedded in a house
and the two agents who manned it had to be hospitalized with injuries of varying degrees.
The trucker
was unhurt,
although his vehicle - a newspaper and magazine distribution truck - was damaged.
The event occurred this Tuesday at the intersection between two avenues -Santa Fe and Las Heras-, right on the border between three towns in the
Lomas de Zamora district
(Las Heras divides Lomas de
Villa Centenario
and
Banfield
and these two, in turn , are separated by Santa Fe).

The two vehicles were traveling
at high speed
through the avenues, in the early hours of the morning, when there is practically no traffic: the patrol through Las Heras and the truck through Santa Fe.
As could be seen from the images captured by the camera, it was the patrol car - which
did not have its beacons lit
- the one who crossed the corner in red.
With no time to avoid him, the truck driver
hit him squarely,
dragging him several meters until the Police mobile, completely destroyed, was stopped on the sidewalk against the front of a house.
The two troops who were on the patrol suffered injuries.
As reported by the local
newspaper El Diario Sur
, an officer
suffered a hip fracture
and her partner, with
a cracked lung
due to a fractured rib.

The two were assisted by local SAME personnel and transferred to
the Gandulfo Hospital in Lomas de Zamora.
They were later referred to the Fitz Roy Medical Center, in the Federal Capital, where they were admitted but out of danger.
As a consequence of the accident, in addition, there was
a gas leak
when the meter corresponding to the property where the patrol car ended up breaking.
Personnel from the
Voluntary Firefighters of Lomas de Zamora
and the Metrogás company, together with Civil Defense agents and the Buenos Aires Police, worked on site to resolve the situation.
The firefighters also had to rescue the wounded police officers, who had been
trapped between the twisted iron
of their car.
From the Lomense Volunteer Firefighters Association they reported that the incident occurred at "approximately 4.50".
The accident occurred at dawn, when there was almost no traffic.

"We concurred with the rescue Unit 38 and five firefighters," they added.
And they confirmed that "both trapped policemen were released
by means of hydraulic cutting tools,
to later be handed over to medical personnel of the municipal service 107".
"They left me without electricity or gas"
"I was sleeping and I felt an explosion," said the owner of the house affected by the crash.
“The only thing I saw,” he added, “was the patrol car inside my house.
It destroyed everything.

We were inside with my wife and the dogs and we all jumped.
I never saw such a thing. "
He also stated that at the corner of Santa Fe and Las Heras "it is common for these accidents to happen."
And he described the area as “a highway: nobody respects the traffic light after ten at night.
Some time ago, three cars ended up inside a pizzeria ”.
From Metrogás they reported that the gas leak had been resolved so there was no danger in the area.
