The United States announced tonight (Thursday) that North Korea has conducted a test of two medium-range ballistic missiles that fired at the sea off the east coast.
The U.S. Army Pacific Command has issued a statement saying North Korea's launches "pose a direct threat to the region's countries" and the international community.
The U.S. military has said it is in talks with its allies over the response to Pyongyang's response.
South Korea, an ally of Washington, has expressed "deep concern" over the shooting, according to a statement issued by the Seoul National Security Council.
The missile launch, which comes after a limited short-range missile test conducted by Pyongyang over the weekend, is another message to the Biden administration that North Korea does not intend to give up its missile program, despite the agreements North Korea has previously signed with its country. Ballistic.
North Korean Deputy Foreign Minister Chu Sun-hoi earlier this week responded to the Biden administration's diplomatic attempts to turn to North Korea, saying: "We do not think it is necessary to respond to US attempts to pull time through tactics. We will ignore its appeals in the future as well."
Earlier this month it was revealed that Pyongyang had ignored several appeals from senior officials in the Biden administration in order to hold initial talks on the country’s dismantling of its nuclear arsenal and halting its ballistic missile program.
