The Swedish fashion brand H&M Group issued a statement on "rejecting Xinjiang products" last year. In addition, H&M is currently disappearing from major mainland shopping platforms such as Taobao and JD. Even map apps such as Baidu Maps and Gaode Maps also block the location of H&M stores.
Although H&M has issued a statement reiterating that the decision does not represent any political position, it does not seem to be effective for mainland officials and citizens.
Although the incident started with H&M, the matter has been fermented so far, and it has involved many brands that have declared that they do not use Xinjiang cotton, including Nike, adidas, UNIQLO and Burberry.
