Visiting a high school to take stock of the half-gauge in the classes, Christophe Kerrero took the opportunity to affirm his intention

“Contact is super important,” says Clément, 17, sitting in the front row in his economics and social sciences class.

"We keep a real pace of work," says the high school student fears that we close the establishments: "Already that I am not a great worker ... Autonomy is very complicated.

"

Accompanied by Philippe Goujon, mayor (LR) of the 15th arrondissement, the rector of Paris, Christophe Kerrero, went this morning to the Lycée Camille-Sée.

He met students and teachers to discuss the half-gauge now in place in the classes of all the establishments of the confined departments.

Divided into two groups within the same class, the high school students alternate between one week of lessons in class and the other at home.

"It is for the moment the best possible solution", estimates the professor of Clément, for whom the measure is "effective".

“The students need contact with us,” she continues.

The half-gauge allows us to move forward.

Slowly, but to move forward.

We decided that we were not giving up.

"

The high school students of Camille Sée (Paris XVth) appreciate the maintenance of a part in class face-to-face… for the moment.

Like Clément, other high school students in his class seem to approve of this new way of operating.

They fear especially to see their school closing its doors.

Still lingering in their minds the memory of the first confinement where all the lessons took place at a distance.

Period when it was difficult for them to stay motivated and focused.

"I really don't want schools to close"

For Matilda, 18, “compared to the first confinement, it's much better”.

The young girl says that at the start of the health crisis, she was dropping out of school.

Since the schools reopened, she has hung up the cars.

The physical and non-dematerialized courses allow you to "structure" your day more.

“I really don't want schools to close,” she explains, obviously worried.

Christophe Kerrero, rector of Paris (left), judged the measure of the half-gauge in high schools "positive".

If this new measure to try to stop the pandemic is favorably received by the teachers and the students of Camille-Sée, the health situation continues to worsen in many Parisian schools.

At the end of the visit, Christophe Kerrero nevertheless reaffirmed his wish to close school structures only as a last resort.

“Things are going well, I salute the teachers' commitment.

We will be able to find other braking solutions, ”he said.

According to him, the virus does not circulate more at school than elsewhere: "The school is only the reflection of the society", advanced the rector.

School holidays could be brought forward

Philippe Goujon is more critical of the situation, "serious" according to him.

"It is progressing almost exponentially: it is time to strengthen health protocols", he announced before adding, echoing the wish expressed by Valérie Pécresse, the president (Free!) Of the region, to bring the school holidays forward, that "either we put in additional resources, or we go on vacation earlier and we close the schools".

As of next week, screening teams, by saliva tests, will be sent to establishments where the situation is considered worrying.

"Three criteria have been defined: if there is an appearance of the Brazilian or South African variant, if 5% of positive cases have been detected in the establishment or if more than two classes of the school are closed", indicates Anne Souyris , Assistant (EELV) in charge of Health at Paris City Hall.
