An assault case occurred in Sha Tin yesterday (25th) morning. A 14-year-old girl was assaulted by a man who touched her body twice in 2 minutes on the platform on the third floor of the Sha Tin Central Shopping Centre. After investigation, the police arrested a 31-year-old man.

Inspector Lui Wing-yu of the Sixth Team of the Criminal Investigation Team of the Shatin Police District said that at about 11 a.m. yesterday, a 14-year-old female student attending a secondary school in the district was suddenly caught by a shop on the third floor of the Shatin Centre shopping mall on the way to school to buy drinks. A strange man touched his body from behind, and the male suspect hurriedly left the scene.

The female student immediately felt stunned and panicked by others, but did not leave and continued to buy drinks.

About 2 minutes later, the same suspect turned back again and touched the female student's body again. The female victim immediately asked the drink shop clerk for help and called the police.

But the male satyr has fled the scene.

After investigating and checking the closed-circuit television, the police successfully identified the suspect. At 11 am today (26th), a 31-year-old man surnamed Liu Zhong nationality was arrested near the shopping mall platform of Sha Tin Central. He was reportedly unemployed, about 1.7 meters tall and of thin build. He was wearing a black cap, a white mask, a black jacket and brown trousers at the time of the incident.

Lu Yongyu urged that if there are other victims who have encountered similar incidents and did not report to the police, or witnessed the incident at the time of committing the crime, please contact the sixth team of the Criminal Investigation Team of the Shatin Police District at 3661 2636.
