Summary.

Eddy de Pretto grew up in Créteil (Val-de-Marne) and was passionate about singing, before joining a Parisian performing arts school at the age of 18.

It was only after several years of odd jobs that he got noticed by a label.

His first two tracks, "Kid" and "Fête de trop", stand out in the musical landscape and are hailed by critics.

Their hip-hop sounds, mixed with his powerful voice interpreting raw texts with very literary turns, have made him an unclassifiable artist who nevertheless appeals to a very large audience.

Three years ago, his first album, “Cure”, had sold more than 300,000 copies.

Story by Marie Poussel and Eric Bureau, journalists in the Culture department of Le Parisien, who retrace Eddy de Pretto's career in Code source.
