Almost all major parties with the exception of the AfD have already put up their candidates for the federal election on September 26th in the Weilheim constituency, which also includes the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district - only the CSU not yet.

Peißenberg

- This is due to the complicated delegate system: First of all, each local association has to elect its representatives, a presence event is mandatory - not an easy thing in Corona times.

All of this has now been done, but the biggest challenge is on Saturday, March 27th, when all 160 delegates from the local associations (94 from the Weilheim-Schongau district, 66 from the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district) will be the long-term MPs from 2 p.m. and want to send CSU regional group leader Alexander Dobrindt into the race for a new candidacy.

The meeting in the Peißenberg ice rink is likely to be the largest presence event in the district for a year.

Meeting of the district CSU as a test run

Two weeks ago, readers complained to the local newspaper that numerous citizens had come to an event in the Peißenberg ice rink.

That was the assembly of the district CSU, which was also well attended: "131 of 143 delegates were there," says federal constituency manager Leopold Hahn.

The CSU was able to use this as an ideal test run for the even bigger event tomorrow.

According to Hahn, the set-ups of the team that did a rapid corona test had already started hours in advance.

A one-way system was created, signs were hung up, every chair in the spacious hall was within a two-meter radius of the neighbor.

“Everything went well.

We were also able to clear the biggest bottleneck, namely the accreditation upon arrival, at three different points, ”says Hahn.

District office approved event

The doors remained open for ventilation, all visitors were warmly dressed because it never gets really warm in the ice rink without permanent ventilation.

In addition, they paid attention to the time: "We only had a few board members by-elections, there were no speakers, after 45 minutes it was all over," says Hahn.

Nobody had to get up from their chair either because acclamation was used to vote.

It will not happen that fast on Saturday because Dobrindt will certainly say a few words to his CSU delegates.

But does such an event have to be?

"A legally required assembly meeting for the candidates for the Bundestag election is basically approvable," says District Office spokesman Hans Rehbehn, constitutionally, such appointments are very important and must "not be jeopardized in general by regulations and orders under infection protection law," says Rehbehn.

Of course, this requires a sufficient protection and hygiene concept and distance rules, that has been checked - the CSU has received permission from the district office.
