The country should see thousands of additional wind turbines emerge from its lands or emerge from its marine waters by the end of the next decade to meet the objectives of the multi-year energy program (PPE).
Decided by the government in a decree of April 21, it provides for the share of wind energy to become, by 2028, the second source of French electricity production ahead of hydraulic, but far behind nuclear.

In view of the past year, it is taking the right path: it has moved ahead of fossil fuels (mainly gas) in 2020. However, much remains to be done.
"To achieve this objective, the share of wind power, which currently represents 8% of French electricity production, will have to increase between 15 and 20% by the end of the decade,"
