To help young people, the executive is looking for ... 100,000 "mentors"

These mentors, who can be students, professionals or retirees, are invited to make their experience available to enable young people to gain confidence.


This was one of the commitments made by the President of the Republic on March 1 as part of the agenda for equal opportunities and the 1 young 1 solution plan.

And here it is coming to fruition.

The government has indeed launched this Friday a first call for projects around its new device 1 young 1 mentor.

The objective is to increase the number of young people who benefit from the support of a third party during their schooling, during their career choices or during their integration into the labor market.

These mentors, who can be students as well as working or retired professionals, are invited to provide their experience and mobilize their networks, a few hours a month, to allow young people to gain confidence and autonomy. during these different phases of their life.

“Mentoring is a relationship of trust and solidarity between the young person and his mentor to transmit know-how, skills and especially skills to become.

It is an important tool for supporting young people over the long term by helping them develop their personal and professional project, ”

said Minister of Labor Élisabeth Borne.

In 2021, the executive has set a target of 100,000 young people monitored, which represents three times the number of young mentors in 2020, before increasing to 200,000 in 2022. A dedicated budget of 16 million euros is open to destination of structures of general interest, which can apply on the website of the Ministry of Labor.
