Many mentioned that the sound was doctored, that there was an edit that caused this confusion, others also pointed out that after hearing one word, then they could hear the other.

explanations about the puzzling audio.
The key, as it happened with other viral audios that represented the same phenomenon,
is in the device through which the sound is heard.
Headphones or speakers (generally heard with the phone) that have better treble possibly lead to hear the word "rental", on the other hand if you have better bass, it is more likely that the word is "bicycle".

We listen with the brain. What we hear is influenced by our subjective experience
, our memory, our language and what we expect to hear. Probably, our brain decided to hear 'bike' or 'rental' before putting play to the audio," he said .
