Schongau - In a closed session, the Schongau city council awarded the contract for the new paddling slide on Tuesday after its budget meeting.
Bad boss Andreas Kosian is already really looking forward to it, because of course the slide elements will not only be replaced, but everything should be even better and more exciting on the exactly 82.30 meters tube.
A well-known provider with a changeable and eventful concept has prevailed in the award procedure.
In the future, the user will be able to choose between three different variants for his next tire ride.
Light scenarios and sound effects in the tube are then matched to the individual choice, various giant LED screens show videos, and other surprises such as a waterfall are used - or not.
And so that it doesn't get boring and the attraction of the slide is not lost over the next few years, these scenarios can even be reprogrammed.
"We may also start a kind of 'ideas competition' in which our guests can put together slide scenarios themselves and submit them," was the idea of the paddling team.
You have already imagined this down to the last detail.
The winner, whose idea is actually implemented, could then not only personally name “his scenario”, but also receive a prize such as a season ticket or something similar.
“In future, our guests will be able to help design their swimming pool to a certain extent,” Kosian can imagine.
A time measuring system will also be reinstalled
What they didn't want to do without are the slide competitions, a time measuring system is being reinstalled.
What is new, however, is that you can not only slide with single tires, in the future there will also be double tires.
"In any case, we are really happy that we can slide out of the crisis with the new slide in line with the end of the pandemic, which will hopefully be foreseeable in autumn, with the famous 'oomph' and start splashing into a positive future after Corona," says Kosian Crowd confidence.
However, this is already being dampened by the current figures and the extension of the lockdown until mid-April.
"Unfortunately, we have to put our expectations of a punctual start of the season to the 1st of May dead," said Kosian.
We will see until when we will get so much planning security that it is possible to winterize the outdoor pool and the bathing world - without too great a cost risk.
Kosian: "At the moment I no longer expect that we can start before mid-May."
The costs amount to 900,000 euros
Not only the slide itself was awarded, but also all other trades, such as the necessary concrete renovation.
According to Kosian, all trades remained below the cost estimates, so that with a bit of luck, if unexpected cost increases do not occur again during the renovation, the planned costs of almost 900,000 euros could even be undercut.
As reported, the slide is funded by the federal program “Renovation of municipal facilities in the fields of sport, youth and culture”.
Kosian expects construction to start in early May.
Then the old slide should first be dismantled.
As reported, the individual parts are then given away, and even more interested parties have registered than have to be handed in.
"Unfortunately, due to lack of dimensions, we can no longer consider other interested parties," said Kosian.
According to the schedule, the concrete renovation on the slide house should take until around mid-July.
The new slide will then be built until around mid-August, the remaining work until the TÜV approval is then taken into account until the end of August / beginning of September.
“With a little luck, the new slide could make its debut during the big holidays and be the 'star of the facility' in the winter season,” hopes pool manager Kosian.
There should be no closure for revision this year.
