- Testing, testing, testing: This is a strategy in the fight against the corona virus.

And in the city, too, there should not be just one test center in the future.

Because the city wants to orient itself on the so-called Tübingen model (see below) and create a perspective for schools, restaurants, retail and culture in Bruck with the help of negative test certificates.

The Greens and CSU had applied.

With a large majority, the city council decided on Tuesday to set up test stations.

The number and locations remained open.

Markus Droth (Free Voters) suggested setting up two to three stations.

Jan Halbauer (Greens) had suggested the Fürstenfeld event forum as a location in order to then perhaps be able to restart the cultural scene there.

"It would be a very small first step," said Halbauer.

If successful, the concept could be extended to other cultural sites such as museums, art galleries and restaurants.

“We shouldn't just open a cultural business,” demanded Irene Weinberg (BV).

She said she could envision a drive-through test station at the Volksfestplatz.

Mayor Erich Raff had already contacted the Red Cross and the Maltese after an urgency request by several parliamentary groups before the meeting.

The Maltese have been offering rapid tests in the Bruck test center they operate since Thursday.

The Red Cross, which operates the vaccination center, is also open-minded when premises are available, reported the town hall chief.

He himself supports the concept.

Another building block in the concept that the city wants to pursue is the Luca app.

It can use a QR code to determine whether the smartphone - and thus the owner - has been to a certain location, i.e. in a concert, bar or shop.

The paper lists for contact tracking, which were mandatory in the catering industry last year, are no longer necessary.

There is also a solution for people without a smartphone: a Luca key ring.

The city should check to what extent this can be made available free of charge.

The city is not alone in implementing the Tübingen model.

It can make tests possible.

However, the fact that shops or cinemas are actually allowed to open to visitors with a negative test should at least be allowed by the district's health authority.

A general hygiene plan approved by the district office is necessary for this, said Halbauer in the city council.

According to Raff, the Bruck district office has not yet signaled any support for the city's advance.

And whether the health department can allow deviations from the Infection Protection Ordinance of the Free State according to the current legal situation is controversial.

Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) encouraged district administrators and mayors to adopt the Tübingen model on Thursday, and the Bavarian district council immediately pointed out that the district offices were bound by instructions towards the Free State.

So far, he has insisted on compliance with the applicable opening rules, which largely depend on the 7-day incidence.

After Easter, the state government will initially test the Tübingen model in eight Bavarian municipalities.

It is important that people can do something with the negative test, said Andreas Lohde (CSU) in the city council: beer garden visits, culture or something else.

The Greens and CSU now want Bruck to apply to become one of the eight model cities.

Members of the CSU and the Greens have already placed the city with the Ministry of Health, according to a press release on Friday.

That was not part of the Council decision.

However, one sees the application covered by the commitment to the Tübingen model, Halbauer told our newspaper when asked.

He assumes that the application by the OB will follow next week, said Halbauer.

Even if it should not be successful, one should continue to pursue the path.

It is "now time to just do it".

That is the Tübingen model

The model test in Tübingen, Baden-Württemberg, is based on daily corona rapid tests.

There are several test stations in the city center for this.

Outdoor catering as well as art and cultural institutions such as theaters, cinemas and libraries are opened.

Anyone who has a Tübingen day ticket is allowed in - i.e. a certificate of the negative Corona rapid test carried out on that day.

You can only gain access to businesses and shops with a negative test.

Hotels, educational institutions, sports and club events, on the other hand, are still subject to the Corona restrictions.

Even after the seven-day incidence in Tübingen rose above 50, the model persisted.
