Rapid tests, rapid tests, rapid tests.

The Falken Apotheke in Ismaning is a pioneer in this field.

Up to 150 tests are carried out daily in the pharmacy.

Ismaning

- Friday, nine in the morning.

Half a dozen people have already gathered in front of the Falken Apotheke in Ismaning, keeping a safe distance.

Vacationers, kindergarten children or working people, all wait in front of the pharmacy's door for the same reason: they want a rapid antigen test.

The Falken Apotheke is a pioneer in this field.

The team comes up with up to 150 tests every day.

“We have been testing for seven weeks,” says Jessica Wilhelm, who owns the pharmacy together with her husband.

Even when the rapid tests were still chargeable, Wilhelm offered them to their customers.

"Because of the proximity to the old people's home and the mandatory testing there, the rush has always been great," says the pharmacist.

After the decision was made at the beginning of March to offer the tests once a week free of charge, the pharmacy upgraded.

“We have converted our laboratory into a test room,” says Wilhelm.

In addition, a new computer, suitable software and a printer had to be found.

“We also hired two 450 euro workers, otherwise it would not be feasible,” says Wilhelm.

To this end, the pharmacists and pharmaceutical-technical assistants have increased their hours.

No test possible with cold symptoms or fiber

A window next to the front door opens.

A woman in a gown and mask uses a forehead thermometer to measure the temperature of each rapid test customer before he is allowed to enter the laboratory via the sales room.

“Unfortunately, if someone has a fever or cold symptoms, we cannot test them.

Customers have to go to the test center or the doctor's office, ”explains Wilhelm.

One exception: children.

"They often have a cold during the cold season."

Most of the customers, who come not only from Ismaning, but also from the surrounding communities and districts, have already registered online before the test.

“But we also try not to turn customers away without an appointment,” says Wilhelm.

Since the pharmacy introduced the “Terminland” online software, the team has been much more relaxed.

"Before that, the phone kept ringing," says Wilhelm.

“We had an appointment planner like in the hairdressing salon.” Now you can book the appointment online, but it is also still possible by phone.

The pharmaceutical-technical assistant Sabine Schindlbeck tests the customers in the test room every five minutes.

“Nose or throat?” She asks.

Schindlbeck puts the rack in a tube, waits a moment and drips the liquid onto the test strip.

Wait 15 minutes and the result will be there.

"It's comparable to a pregnancy test," says Schindlbeck.

As soon as the result is established, her colleague enters the data into the computer, which sends a certificate to the customer by email.

"If a positive test result comes out, my employees explain to the tested person how to proceed," says Wilhelm.

The customer has to go into quarantine and organize a PCR test independently.

"We pass the result on to the health department."

The quick test is not only accepted by daycare centers, schools or retirement homes, you can also be tested in Ismaning before traveling.

Therefore, Wilhelm assumes that the rush will increase during the Easter holidays.
