Miesbach - It is a budget of superlatives that Miesbach is putting together this year: With a total volume of 50.2 million euros, it is the second highest in the history of the district town.

The asset budget is even the highest at 16.4 million euros.

Of this, 14.7 million are attributable to investments alone.

The administrative budget is stable at 33.7 million euros.

It enables an allocation of 3.8 million to the budget.

That means: the permanent positive performance is assured - the city can earn the repayment of its debts.

And that is the downside of the figures: In order to be able to shoulder the large number of investments - including the conversion of the monastery into a children's home with 3.3 million euros - the city is planning a loan of 7.5 million euros, whereby it is open how much must actually be absorbed.

At the beginning of the year the debt level was 22.5 million euros.

1.7 million euros will be repaid.

Words of warning - sober mood

This borrowing caused criticism in the not excited, but sobering warning mood at the meeting of the finance committee on Thursday evening.

Mayor Gerhard Braunmiller (CSU) also stated that the consequences of the Corona have made a “responsible budget policy” and monitoring indispensable for a number of years.

Thanks to the Miesbach companies, the trade tax is stable - "that is the result of the good settlement policy of my predecessors".

To continue this in this way is also his goal.

According to Braunmiller, the fact that the investments are so massive this year is also due to the fact that some projects planned for 2020, such as the renovation of the middle school, have not yet come about.

After all, the city is boosting its economy.

With the warm outdoor pool and flood protection (four million each), the next projects are foreseeable for 2022.

Loans are not a panacea

Paul Fertl (SPD) warned against placing too much emphasis on loans and low interest rates, as the first signs of an increase were to be seen.

He worries about the tendency towards a further increase in debt.

“We have to be more economical,” he stated.

Markus Seemüller (FWG) has no problem with this budget: "All projects were decided by the city council." However, given the imponderables, he warned against promising too much to the citizens and creating expectations.

A museum depot or a parking deck at the ice rink, which the mayor had presented during the election campaign and which has now been postponed, “no longer work”.

Consequences of the investment backlog

Second Mayor Astrid Güldner (Greens) pointed out that “the investment backlog is falling on our feet.

We have to tackle that. ”Michael Lechner (FWG) missed“ the determination to take more care of the subsidy companies ”.

In particular, the costs at Waitzinger cellar and library are still too high.

“The city cannot do everything.

As the new mayor, you have to set an example. ”Braunmiller countered this:“ I focus on cost discipline where it makes sense.

These investments make sense. "

What Manfred Burger (Greens) underlined: "In the preliminary talks we did not find any major points to cross out." In addition, the medium-term financial planning and borrowing should not be overestimated: "In 20 years I have never seen it go according to plan."

Investing for the kids

And Verena Assum (CSU) stated: “We are not burdening the future of our children, we are investing in them.” When implementing projects that have been decided on, things should go ahead quickly, “and what is disputed like the parking deck, we should also discuss publicly in the City Council - then we'll see ”.

The library, bathroom and culture have added value despite all the costs.

In addition, added Third Mayor Franz Mayer (CSU), “we are already working very cheaply anyway”.

One big question mark is the impact of the Corona crisis.

According to treasurer Josef Schäffler, the development of income is open - one has to be prepared for break-ins.

The city was lucky in 2020: Contrary to the Corona-shaped expectation, the trade tax exceeded the 8.3 million rate by 4.2 million euros.

However, the income tax share remained 446 266 euros below the rate.

This made it possible to add around six instead of 2.3 million euros to the budget.

The committee recommended that the city council adopt the draft.

Only Lechner and Seemüller voted against.
