The National Theater in Sweida organized a celebration on the occasion of the World Theater Day this evening on the stage of the Arab Cultural Center in the city.
The celebration focused on the importance and role of theater in spreading awareness and the need to develop it and maintain its continuity as a mirror for society.
Director of the National Theater in Swaida, Wajih Qaisiya, considered that it is the duty of true playwrights to consecrate the culture of theater and make it an eternal platform, a school of truth, and a free platform for what the stage represents of the values of truth, goodness and beauty.
The ceremony included honoring the artists Mamdouh Al-Atrash, Randa Al-Shammas, Rania Al-Khatib, Maan Doueir, and the journalist Dawood Abu Shakra.
The celebration was dedicated to the soul of the late artist Adel Hamza.
The play of the bear by the Russian writer Anton Chekhov was shown to a troupe that collects the artistic stories and tells the story of Popova, the grieving widow of her husband, and the attempts of her servant Luke to get her out of her grief and help him with a strange person named Smiranov for this purpose, who leaves no means for that until the widow calls him a bear and invites her to a duel and she agrees and asks her to marry.
