The "giant Easter eggs" in Bernbeuren are likely to have caught the eye of many motorists.

They were finished just in time for Easter and distributed around the town.

Bernbeuren - All classes as well as the kindergarten children and the students in the emergency care had repeatedly painted in small groups in the past few weeks and with a view to the Corona requirements on the three eggs, which are about one meter high.

Teacher Sissi Schmölz had her hands full coordinating the action and designing the synthetic resin-coated fiberglass eggs to match.

On the one hand there is the “welcome egg” with typical Easter bunnies on it, which comes from the Haslacher See and welcomes the people of Bernbeuren.

Between the elementary school and the kindergarten, on the other hand, there is the colorful “surprise egg”, which should always remind the numerous little artists of the two institutions of their joint project.

And then there is the "exchange egg" in front of the town hall, which was actually supposed to be exchanged with the partner community in Vizinada last year, but could not go on the trip due to Corona.

The idea behind the whole project was Susanne Schulenburg, who knows from her time in Croatia that such large eggs are common there at Easter and can be seen in many localities.

Thanks to local sponsorships, the cost of the white blanks was soon reduced, but because of the lockdown, they spent a year in the school loft for the time being.

Exchange with Croatia planned

Characteristic motifs such as cows or fir trees can be seen on the egg in front of the municipality - things that you cannot see in Istria.

And that was exactly the intention behind the decoration, if the children in the Croatian partner community should get the special features of our region delivered by egg.

Schulenburg could imagine that dolphins, the sea or pine trees might be seen on the Mediterranean return.

For the time being, the works of art will stay where they are, although hopefully the traditional Bavarian creation can head south next year.

Primary school, kindergarten and community now hope that the colorful Easter eggs bring some color and Easter joy, invite you to take a walk through the village and wish all adults and children in and around Bernbeuren a "Happy Easter".
