Horror in Mozambique: Members of the ISIS terrorist organization Anser al-Suna, which took control of the northern coastal town of Palma in the past day, executed dozens of people.
The organization's terrorists attacked a military base, banks and shops in the coastal town when the target of the attack was a gas project of the French energy company Total, located near the town.
Nearly two hundred foreigners and locals have found refuge at the Amarola Hotel, where many foreign workers live, and according to some reports among the fugitives are also members of a foreign security company and British citizens.
Army forces began evacuating civilians by sea and dozens of boats and vessels of various types came to try and assist in the evacuation.
"The beach is full of bodies of civilians who tried to escape. The terrorists beheaded many of them," said Colonel Lionel Wandeik, whose security company is helping Mozambique police fight the scourge of terrorism.
About twenty foreign citizens were evacuated by helicopter from the town but many others are still missing.
During the afternoon, the army forces managed to rescue a group of about a hundred people after they fled to a mangrove grove near the sea and managed to hide from the terrorists.
Seven other people were killed when terrorists ambushed the convoy in which they were traveling.
The ISIS insurgency country has been going on since 2019 and its members have managed to maintain a constant presence in the country’s northern border area with Tanzania.
They are assisted by foreign fighters who come from various countries in East Africa and recruit children into their ranks while threatening to behead those who refuse.
