Covid-19: Thierry Breton announces the arrival of a vaccine passport from June 15

2021-03-28T11:52:29.975Z

The certificate, which will give information about the vaccination and the antibodies developed against the virus, will not be compulsory.

Europe will have "

the capacity for collective immunity

" by July 14.

The European Commissioner in charge of vaccines, Thierry Breton, had already assured this a few days ago;

he reaffirmed it during the “Grand Jury RTL-

Le Figaro

-LCI” this Sunday and specified the modalities.

In particular, a vaccination passport should be made available from June 15.

This is a new stage that is opening for vaccination against Covid-19.

After a period of adaptation, the industrial production of vaccines now seems to be running smoothly.

The European Commissioner has in any case affirmed with "

certainty

" that "

360 million doses

" would be delivered to Europe at the end of the third quarter, as well as 420 million in the middle of July.

Amounts "

necessary to start talking about this collective immunity

".

In France, 3 million doses should also be delivered next week.

No obligation for the vaccination passport

"We

will have to move to acceleration

", thus enjoined Thierry Breton, affirming that it is "

to the Member States to organize themselves and to accelerate

" the vaccination campaign.

"

They have 420 million doses to administer in three and a half months

," he said.

This industrial increase will be accompanied by a new device: the vaccination passport.

Scheduled for June 15 and harmonized at European level, this "

certificate

" will be available in both paper and digital format.

Equipped with a "

QR code

", it will indicate "

the state which is yours

", namely "

the type of vaccine which you have had

", "

if you have been a carrier of the disease

", and "

if you have antibodies

”.

This document may be requested to take a plane, participate in an “

important event

” or enter a public place, but is not compulsory.

“At the same time,

we are developing a capacity to have rapid antigenic tests

,” said Thierry Breton.

In the absence of a certificate, a negative test will therefore be required.

The goal, for the European Commissioner: "to

regain the capacity to live together without being a risk

" and "to

have the capacity to reopen

".

We have to get organized very quickly

,” he repeated.
