The Covid pandemic is a ruthless test for the governance of nations and the resilience of societies.
It redraws the hierarchy of powers, for the time being the downgrading of the West against Asia, that of Europe within the West and that of France within Europe.
The debacle of June 1940 had brought to light not only the archaism of the French army locked by its high command in obsolete doctrines, but also the fragility of the society undermined by a cold civil war and the paralysis of the institutions of the Third Republic.
The Covid epidemic fulfills the same role.
Under the loss of control of the health situation point to the failure of an obese and powerless state whose teeming bureaucracy has demonstrated its inability to manage crises, the break-up and tears of the nation, the discrediting of institutions and leaders to citizens.
