The parish priest of Bonassola (La Spezia), Giulio Mignani, does not bless the palms as a form of protest against the document of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith which prohibits the blessing of the unions of homosexual couples. Don Giulio, who has repeatedly sided in favor of the rainbow families, explained his protest during the homily of the Palm Sunday mass, which opens Holy Week for Christians. Don Giulio explained that the blessing of the Palms is "connected to the procession in memory of the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. Not being able to do this procession, because of the anti-Covid rules, I personally think it does not make sense then to bless the Palms. But I am also extremely happy - he added - that my decision not to bless the palms and olive trees takes place a few days after the publication of the document of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith ". The priest confirmed that, therefore, in the non-blessing of the Palms, "a form of protest has been added through which I express my belief that this prohibition is absurd, reiterated by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith. In the church, everything is blessed, not only the palms but at times, unfortunately, even weapons have been blessed, but the true and sincere love of two people cannot be blessed because they are homosexuals. But, even more serious, is the fact that they continue to call this their "sin" love. The losers - he concluded - are certainly not homosexual people, who can easily do without the blessing of the Church, because in the meantime God is blessing them.
