A few minutes from the first Grand Prix of the season, this Sunday in Bahrain (live here), here is the latest information before the lights go out at 5 p.m.
German Sebastian Vettel (Aston Martin), who qualified in 18th place, was penalized for not respecting a yellow flag in qualifying and will start in 20th and last place in the Bahrain Grand Prix on Sunday, organizers said.
While a double yellow flag, synonymous with danger, was deployed after a spin by Russian driver Nikita Mazepin (Haas) at the first turn, Vettel did not slow down as required by regulations, which is why he was penalized with five places by the GP stewards.
Verstappen (Red Bull), Hamilton (Mercedes), Bottas (Mercedes) and Gasly (Alpha Tauri) will start on medium tires.
This should give them an edge over the rest of the top 10.
Esteban Ocon (Alpine) will start 16th.
The other Frenchman on the grid will start from the last places, the fault of a qualifying lap sabotaged by the yellow flag caused by Carlos Sainz (Ferrari).
