Tan Yaozong, a member of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, said when he departed for Beijing today (28th) that the meeting will end next Tuesday (30th) morning. If the discussed matters are passed, the amendment will be explained.
Confident that the Legislative Council can successfully complete the amendment
When meeting reporters at the airport, Tan Yaozong said that if the chairperson meeting of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress considers that some items are urgent, the agenda can be adjusted and arranged. As for the discussion once or twice, he said that it depends on the progress of the discussion. "If everyone thinks The discussion is very mature, and everyone has no opinion. We may put it to the vote, because everyone knows that this matter has a certain urgency." He refused to guess the details of the meeting, and believes that it will be clear when it is announced.
He also pointed out that the Legislative Council had convened a subcommittee on the electoral system the day before. He believed that after the amendments to Annex 1 and Annex 2 of the Basic Law, the SAR government will actively step up its work and is confident that the SAR and the Legislative Council can successfully complete the amendments.
