After a long wait, the general practitioners in the Munich district finally have the corona vaccine.

But there are hardly any vaccinators left.

A curious search begins.

Munich - The vaccination chaos continues.

At least for family doctors in the Munich district *.

Because the medical professionals should first vaccinate priority group 1.

These are mainly citizens who are 80 years old and older.

The first vaccine will come next week, but the doctors are now having great problems finding unvaccinated people from group 1.

Like the doctor Fritz-Gerrit Kropp from Oberschleißheim.

Oberschleißheim: General practitioners in the Munich district cannot find vaccine patients - where are the entitled ones?

"There are probably still enough unvaccinated people over the age of 80," believes Kropp.

But the employees in the group practice don't know where.

“We have to go through our card index and call everyone over 80 years of age.” Kropp even spoke to acquaintances on the street.

Usually the answer comes: "I have already been vaccinated."

The search for unvaccinated over 80-year-olds is so time-consuming because general practitioners do not have access to the BayIMCO system.

BayIMCO (Bavarian Vaccination Management against Corona *) is the registration portal of the Free State, an algorithm decides on the urgency of the vaccination.

"A huge effort": Doctors are desperately looking for people over 80 who have not been vaccinated

Friedrich Kiener, family doctor and head of the vaccination center in Unterschleißheim, reports of similar problems.

"The search for over 80-year-olds is a huge effort." In his practice, he and two employees called through vaccinators for three hours.

The sounding is "more effort than the whole vaccination".

For him, the strict prioritization by date of birth makes little sense: He would rather vaccinate a sick 75-year-old than an active 81-year-old.

Kiener estimates that at the end of April, all over 80-year-olds will be vaccinated.

Then it's group 2's turn: it includes around 70 to 80-year-olds, people with trisomy 21 and people with dementia.

Vaccination prioritization: How meticulously looking for general practitioners is not specified

Family doctors could now make it easy for themselves and simply vaccinate under 80-year-olds.

However, you are strictly required to vaccinate people in Group 1 first.

"The prioritization according to the Coronavirus Vaccination Ordinance continues to apply to doctors as well," writes the Bavarian Ministry of Health on request.

But if the doctor has phoned all patients, he may also vaccinate group 2, says a spokeswoman for the Munich district office.

It is not specified how meticulously family doctors have to search for this.

Many people will not be able to vaccinate Kropp and his colleagues next week anyway.

In the first week, the practice only receives 20 doses of vaccine.
