The World Press Photo Exhibition 2020 (World Press Photo Exhibition 2020 in Hong Kong) was originally scheduled to be held at HKBU on March 1, but it was cancelled for security reasons a few days before the opening.

The exhibition includes news photos of the Hong Kong demonstrations in 2019. A new venue has been found and will be exhibited at the Admiralty Unified Center "The Desk" from March 29th to 4th.

The HKBU had prepared an exhibition before the National Security Law came into effect last year. It was originally scheduled to open on March 1 and has been promoted online.

But on February 26, the HKBU suddenly stated that it would cancel it for campus safety, security, and epidemic prevention reasons.

Robin Ewing, director of the International Journalism Program of the Department of Journalism of HKBU, who was in charge of the exhibition, said in an interview that he was disappointed with the cancellation of the exhibition, "really a shame (really a shame)."

The "World Press Photo Exhibition" is one of the highest honors of photography awards in the news industry. The winning works will be exhibited around the world. This year's Hong Kong exhibition is co-organized by the Hong Kong Photojournalist Association.
