Daraa-Sana
The area cultivated with chickpeas in Daraa during the current agricultural season has reached 15,919 hectares out of the planned area of 21,411 hectares, with an implementation rate of 74.3 percent.
The Director of Agriculture, Eng. Abdel-Fattah Al-Rahal, said in a statement to SANA's correspondent today that the cultivation of chickpeas at the end and the areas planted in this season approached the areas cultivated last season, which amounted to 16,400 hectares.
He added that the directorate works with farmers to implement the agricultural plan and supports them in cooperation with the authorities concerned with the agricultural reality by providing production requirements at promotional prices for seeds, fertilizers and fuel, as well as extension services.
Chickpea production last season reached 9706 tons.
