According to Xinhua News Agency, the 27th meeting of the Standing Committee of the 13th National People's Congress held its first plenary meeting in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing this afternoon (29th), presided over by Li Zhanshu, Chairman of the National People's Congress.
The chairmen's meeting proposed to the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress a proposal for reviewing Annex I and Annex II of the Basic Law. Shen Chunyao, Chairman of the Legal Affairs Committee of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, gave an explanation on the two revised drafts.

According to Xinhua News Agency, 167 members of the Standing Committee attended the meeting, and the number of attendees met the quorum. Vice-chairmen of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress Wang Chen, Cao Jianming, and Zhang Chunxian attended the meeting.
Vice Premier Liu He of the State Council, Yang Xiaodu, Director of the National Supervision Commission, Zhou Qiang, President of the Supreme People’s Court, Zhang Jun, Chief Prosecutor of the Supreme People’s Procuratorate, some members of the NPC special committees, and some NPC deputies attended the meeting as nonvoting delegates.
Xinhua News Agency continued to point out that to implement the spirit and requirements of the "Decision on Improving the Election System of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region" passed by the National People's Congress, the chairmen's meeting proposed to the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress about the proposal for review of the "Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Annex I to the Basic Law of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China". The Proposal on the Method for the Selection of the Chief Executive (Draft Amendment), and the proposal for the deliberation of the "Method for the Selection of the Legislative Council of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China and the Voting Procedure (Draft Amendment)" in Annex II to the Basic Law of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China.
Shen Chunyao, director of the Legislative Affairs Committee of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, gave an explanation on the two revised drafts.
The meeting deliberated on the appointment and removal proposal.
