Some restaurants illegally set up mahjong for fun

The FEHD stated that in the past two days, it has conducted joint operations with the police in Kowloon City, Kwai Tsing, Sai Kung and Wan Chai and inspected 106 food and beverage premises. The department also inspected 1,088 food and beverage premises and 250 other premises in various districts.

A total of 14 persons in charge of catering operations suspected of violating the Regulations were prosecuted in this operation, of which 9 involved failure to arrange for all employees to be tested for the virus every 14 days; the remaining 6 involved failure to comply with the distance or separation between tables and the premises The number of customers inside exceeds half the number of seats, performs mahjong playing activities and wears masks; and a responsible person is involved in two counts of violating testing and mask regulations.

The 14 illegal restaurants must take measures to reduce the risk of transmission from the day after law enforcement officers find it, that is, stop dine-in from 6 pm to 4:59 am the next day, and no more than 2 people can sit together during other business hours One.

Among the food and beverage premises that were required to take measures, 1 case occurred within 3 days, 4 cases occurred in 7 days, and 9 cases occurred in 14 days. It is expected that the restaurants did not comply with the bi-weekly inspection by all employees.

The FEHD reiterated that according to the current instructions issued by the Food and Health Bureau in accordance with the Regulations, if the catering premises adopt a series of anti-infection measures, the dining time can be relaxed to 9:59 pm and no more than 4 people can sit together. .

If the person in charge violates the Regulations, once prosecuted and convicted, he can be fined up to 50,000 yuan and imprisoned for 6 months.

In addition, customers who violate the four-person limit per table in the catering premises may be subject to a fixed fine of RMB 5,000 for violating the "Regulations" (Chapter 599G).

Customers who eat and drink outside of the table area or do not wear a mask when they are not eating or drinking will also violate the Regulations (Chapter 599G) (Chapter 599I) and be fined $5,000.
