Many seniors live in isolation - especially in the pandemic.
The chat with the neighbors is missing, as well as the contact with groups and clubs.
Almost everyone is feeling how long and how lonely a day can be if there is no exchange with other people.
Neighborhood Aid Ismaning has been organizing help in the “assisted living at home” department for years.
Qualified senior assistants come to senior citizens who, for example, have dementia or are otherwise in need of care.
The new project "Silver Stripes" is aimed at a different group: "It's about society and activities for fit, but lonely seniors," says Andrea Roller, who is the contact person for the project and brings together patent tandems.
The volunteers regularly visit the senior citizens two to four times a month and have extensive phone calls with “their” senior citizens.
They take time to talk, go for a walk or go on an excursion.
"A sponsorship can also be very enriching for volunteers", Andrea Roller knows from her long experience in senior work, "because senior citizens have a huge wealth of life experience."
Anyone who enjoys dealing with people, can give away some time and is looking for a meaningful and interesting job is welcome.
The godparents are bound by confidentiality, so they are trustworthy.
Neighbors help is available to help and advise when it comes to spending time together and will regularly offer events for joint visits.
The sponsors also have the opportunity to take part in seminars on a regular basis.

Godparents and seniors can contact the Ismaning neighborhood help in the family center: Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and, by arrangement, also in the afternoon.
