The latest news from the political circle is that the election method of some functional constituencies of the Legislative Council will be changed. At present, some "mixed constituencies" that have both individual votes and group votes may become group votes mainly or all of them are group votes. According to the distribution figures of voters by functional constituencies in 2020, 9 of the 35 functional constituencies are "mixed constituencies", that is, voters in this constituency have both individual votes and group votes, including: Information Technology , Catering, wholesale and retail, sports, performing arts, culture and publishing, real estate and construction, business (2), industry (1), import and export, textiles and clothing.
The IT sector has the most individual votes, with more than 12,000 individual voters.

After the number of seats in the Legislative Council is increased to 90, it is expected that the functional constituency will be reduced from 35 to 30. There is a good chance that the 5 seats of District Council (2), commonly known as the Super District Council, will be eliminated.
Regarding the recent reports that the functional constituency seats will be re-held or some seats need to be merged, Ye Guoqian said that he has not heard of it, and believes that there will be no major changes in the seats, nor will they join the New Territories.
