In order to prevent over-fishing from affecting the environment and water quality of the reservoirs, persons with a fishing license from the Water Supplies Department used to be allowed to fish in the reservoirs only during the fishing period from September 1 to March 31 of the following year.

The Water Supplies Department stated that in view of the increasing public interest in fishing and the reservoir is one of the popular fishing spots, it plans to relax the above fishing period restrictions and allow valid fishing licenses without affecting the supply and safety of fresh water. People can enjoy fishing all year round.

Pilot plan to assess the impact of relaxation of the fishing period

The Water Supplies Department will assess the impact of the relaxation of the fishing period on the environment of the pond and the species and quantity of fish in the pond through a pilot plan, and will conduct a review after the pilot plan is completed to formulate a long-term implementation plan.

Those who wish to fish in the reservoir must first apply for a license from the Water Supplies Department.

Applicants must be at least 13 years old, the fee is 33 yuan, and the validity period is 3 years.

In order to protect precious water resources from pollution, anglers must comply with the conditions and restrictions of a fishing license when fishing in reservoirs.

The Water Supplies Department specifically reminds those who go to the reservoir area for fishing and outings to keep the catchment area, catchment channel and pond area clean, and do not abandon or throw rubbish or objects into the pond, or in the catchment area, catchment channel or water Play in the pond, swim, wash and release animals (including fish, etc.) to ensure water safety and public health.

Polluting a pond is an illegal act. Once convicted, it can be fined up to 50,000 yuan and imprisoned for two years.
