The Food and Health Bureau has announced earlier that all restaurants in Hong Kong will be required to increase the air exchange rate to at least 6 times per hour or install suitable air purification equipment on or before April 30.
The chairperson of the Working Group on Restaurant Ventilation Regulations Yuan Bailiang said that after several meetings with the industry, it is tentatively required that restaurants need to hire a ventilation contractor to check the ventilation rate. If they meet the requirement of at least 6 ventilation rates per hour, To apply to the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department before April 30, the restaurant can download the certificate and post it outside the restaurant.
As for whether restaurants that have not applied for a certificate before April 30 can operate, they still have to discuss with the industry.

After inspection by the contractor, if the restaurant passes the requirements, the contractor must apply to the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department before April 30. The restaurant can download the certificate and post it outside the restaurant.
Yuan Bailiang said that the group has met with the Hong Kong Registered Ventilation Contractors Association to understand whether the industry has sufficient manpower.
Air purification equipment is available for purchase in restaurants
According to the latest regulations, restaurants should install suitable air purification equipment if they cannot increase the air exchange rate to at least 6 times per hour.
Yuan said that the group had met with the Hong Kong and Kowloon Electrical Manufacturers Association and various representatives to understand the volume of air purification equipment on the market.
He revealed that there are a lot of supplies in the market, tens of thousands, but whether it can meet the needs of all restaurants in Hong Kong depends on the needs of the venue.
One of the duties of the working group is to integrate the information submitted by the suppliers and publish air purification equipment that meets the relevant specifications for reference by the person in charge of the catering premises and the ventilation equipment contractor.
Yuan said that the team has received hundreds of applications and is now reviewing relevant information.
