2021 Elections:

President Reuven Rivlin will next Monday hold representatives of the factions elected to the 24th Knesset for a round of consultations, after which he will announce the identity of the candidate who will be elected to carry out the next government train task.

According to a statement from the President's House, "the work of the government train will be entrusted to one of the candidates by Wednesday, April 7, 2021."

The announcement further stated that "as was done for the first time in the 2019 elections, the President of the State instructed that his meetings with the various factions be broadcast live, in all the various media in full transparency with the citizens of Israel."

Deri: "We recommend Netanyahu"

Earlier today, Shas chairman Minister Aryeh Deri announced that his party would recommend Benjamin Netanyahu as prime minister, as promised in the election campaign.

"Shas will work to form a right-wing government led by Netanyahu, which will preserve the Jewish identity of the state and work for the weaker sections, and calls on all right-wing parties, especially the right and new hope, to transcend all other considerations and join a full right-wing government led by Benjamin Netanyahu," Deri said.

The Shas party won 9 seats in the last election, and the Likud led by Netanyahu 30 seats with more than a million voters. The right led by Naftali Bennett and a new hope led by Gideon Saar, won 7 and 6 seats, respectively.

Closing the polls and publishing the samples, Deri said that Shas is the third largest party.

We went through two very difficult years.

"After a year of Corona and a very difficult government that did not succeed and an election campaign with terrible incitement."

Deri added that "I ended a long conversation with the prime minister, and we agreed tonight that we strive to form a government quickly, a Jewish-national government that preserves the Jewish character of the State of Israel."

On the other hand, over the weekend Avigdor Lieberman announced that he would recommend Yesh Atid chairman Yair Lapid to the president as his candidate for the formation of the government. Among them since the dissolution of blue and white in the previous elections.

At the end of their meeting, the parties stated that they "discussed the ways to form a government and replace Netanyahu."

It was further reported that the two are expected to continue the talks between them over the next few days.

Later this week, Lapid is also expected to meet with representatives of the joint list.

In addition, Bennett and Saar also met and talked twice over the weekend, and at the same time Bennett held talks with the heads of the various parties.

Several ideas came up in the meetings, but in each of them lies a breach of election promise.

In the possible scenarios, there was a possibility of a rotation between Bennett and Lapid in a government in which Gideon Saar, Bnei Gantz, Lieberman and Labor also share, with outside support from Meretz and the joint venture.

But in such a case, Bennett will be forced to violate an election promise not to lean on the joint, not to sit with Abtissam Maraan from the Labor Party or Meretz, and later, in the event of a rotation, a promise not to sit under a torch.
