Hong Kong Airlines announced that it will trial the International Air Transport Association (IATA) travel pass application "Travel Pass", which will allow passengers to more easily obtain the destination's entry requirements and the information of the testing center approved by the departure place.
At the same time, the passenger's test results will also be linked to the e-passport in the app.
During the trial period, Hong Kong Airlines will work closely with IATA to test the Lab App part of the travel pass. Passengers on selected routes will be invited to participate. First download the app and create an electronic account, and then choose the medical service to participate in. The agency conducts testing.
The laboratory will verify the identity of the passenger through a secure encrypted channel, and transmit the test result or vaccination certificate to the passenger’s mobile device, and then check according to the global register of COVID-19 health requirements used by most airlines and airports around the world. Ensure that passengers comply with regulatory requirements before receiving the "OK to Travel" departure permission message.
Chris Birt, Director of Hong Kong's Air Services Department, believes that travel passes allow passengers to obtain the latest travel information, ensure compliance with the latest entry requirements, and manage electronic health documents. Airlines can also manage verifiable health certificates more easily.
