The military in Myanmar is increasingly brutal against its own people.
As an aid organization announced on Tuesday, 510 civilians have already been killed - but the real number of victims is probably much higher.
The people are now defending themselves against the military coup with a "garbage strike".
Activists of the "Movement of Civil Disobedience" called on the citizens of Myanmar to put rubbish at the intersections of the main streets as a sign of protest.
“This garbage strike is a strike against the junta.
Everyone can take part, ”it said on Tuesday in a call on social media.
The civil disobedience campaign has already crippled parts of the economy.
There were repeated strikes in factories.
The organization "Clean Yangon", which normally helps to keep the streets of Yangon clean, has asked citizens via Facebook to dump as much rubbish as possible in the middle of the streets.
"Garbage is also a weapon for resisting the junta," it said.
"Let's throw garbage bags and other rubbish from our houses on the street," the organization said.
"New kind of resistance"
The Myanmar Now news agency posted pictures of the garbage strike on Twitter.
"This new kind of resistance is supposed to show the people's aversion to the troops," writes the news agency.
Since the military coup around eight weeks ago, there have been repeated mass protests in Myanmar.
The military are trying hard to break the resistance and are cracking down on the protests with tear gas, rubber bullets and live ammunition.
The demonstrators are demanding, among other things, the release of the disempowered de facto head of government Aung San Suu Kyi and a return to democracy.
