Michel Foucault, one of the greatest intellectuals of the twentieth century and considered the father of the ideological ideas of the progressive left in Europe and the United States, was a sexual predator who committed horrific acts on children, said intellectual Guy Surman in an interview with the Sunday Times.

In an interview, the intellectual claims that Foucault used to rape children during the time he lived in Tunisia.

"They were eight, nine or ten years old. He would throw money at them and tell them, 'Come on, let's meet at the regular place at ten at night.' According to Surman, Foucault's permanent place and the children were in a nearby cemetery. "The question of consent did not even arise," admits the intellectual.

Surman, 77, claims to have encountered the phenomenon while visiting Foucault, along with other intellectuals, in the village of Sidi Buseid, near the capital Tunis.

"There were journalists who accompanied me on this trip, there were plenty of witnesses, but no one made a story out of it like today. He was the king the philosopher, like our god in France," admits Surman.

Surman claims that he regrets today that he did not use his position at the time to condemn Foucault's actions and says that they are "extremely morally ugly. There is a colonial dimension here, a kind of white imperialism," he claims.

"Foucault has never dared to do such things in France," Surman adds.

Despite the harsh accusations, Surman opposes the idea of "canceling" Foucault's writings and positions.

"I have a great admiration for his work. I would not initiate a burning of his books but I would like people to see and understand the truth about him and how philosophers use sophisticated arguments to justify their passions. He thought his arguments gave him freedom to do as he pleased," he says.

Foucault, the son of a surgeon and prominent intellectual of his time, fought for legislation that would allow sex with children at the age of 13. Foucault combined history, philosophy and political science in his writings.

He is considered one of the most influential intellectuals of the second half of the twenty-first century.
