At about 5 pm today (31st), there was a street stall suspected of selling nicotine e-cigarette bombs on Sai Yeung Choi South Street in Mong Kok. A large number of police officers arrived at the scene to pull up the cordon and escorted 2 men and 1 woman into the police car for investigation.
The police seized multiple UGL cartons with e-cigarette brands, and searched a white private car and filming records.
Police officers at the scene stated that the 2 men and 1 woman were arrested for illegal possession of Part 1 poison.
The police then summoned a tow truck to tow away the white private car involved.
According to Article 23 of the Pharmacy and Poisons Ordinance, Chapter 138 of the Laws of Hong Kong, e-cigarette products containing nicotine are pharmaceutical products and must be registered with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board of Hong Kong before they can be sold in Hong Kong.
In addition, Part 1 poisons can only be sold in pharmacies under the supervision of registered pharmacists.
Illegal sale or possession of Part 1 poisons and unregistered pharmaceutical products is a criminal offence and is punishable by a fine of $100,000 and imprisonment for two years.
