The United Nations has designated April 2 as the "World Autism Awareness Day". In response, the Aipei Autism Fund will continue to organize the "Autism Autism Campaign" this year, hoping to help people with autism integrate into society.

Young people with autism broke through their own limitations and discovered athletic abilities without giving up on their mothers. They also won the Special Olympics Snow 4 x 100 Relay Silver Medal and the Men's 400m Silver Medal twice.

Entertainer Gu Dingxuan (Zeno) once played an autistic student in a TV drama, and this year also served as a care ambassador for the fund. He pointed out that autistic people express their emotions more directly, making him feel that they are sincere.

He believes that people with autism have a specific set of "language" when expressing themselves, but their lives are generally no different from ordinary people, and urge the public not to label anyone.

People with autism are generally not good at dictation, and they are prone to misunderstandings in communication.

The Aipai Autism Fund has invited 4-year-old Sun Ka and 25-year-old Zhi Heng to explore their interests and abilities in the form of painting.

In front of the gentle Zhiheng, the message of the painting is simple and direct. One of the pictures is a self-portrait that looks alike. It is unexpected that this "wenqing" turned out to be a silver medalist in the Special Olympics. It can be described as both civil and military, but Zhiheng embarked on the Olympic road. It's never flat.

"It's not too late for him to talk about a 4-year-old boy."

Grace, mother of autistic young Zhiheng

During the interview, Grace, the mother who arranged clothes for Zhiheng from time to time, pointed out that when he was 3 years old, Zhiheng was found to have autism tendency by the kindergarten teacher. Push it down, so it is recommended that Grace take Zhiheng to conduct an autism assessment.

In fact, before the teacher found out, Grace was aware of Zhiheng's anomalies. For example, when he didn't speak very much and asked for help from relatives and friends, everyone sent out "reassurance pills." "It's not too late for a boy to talk when he is 4 years old." .

It was this sentence that convinced Grace that there was no problem with Zhiheng.

But once diagnosed, Zhiheng was assessed as a person with autism, and her comprehension and expression skills were inferior to children of the same age, only about 1 year old, which surprised her.

To take care of an autistic child is definitely not an easy task.

Grace said frankly that Zhiheng's growth has caused her a lot of trouble. "Zhiheng is relatively active, and she likes to jump vigorously at homes day and night. Neighbors are affected, and she receives complaints every day."

Zhiheng couldn't stand up while riding the lift, and even kicked at others impatiently.

For Zhiheng's uncontrolled behavior, many passers-by would cast unfriendly eyes, which made Grace very embarrassed.

Every season is crazy about long-sleeved shirts

One of the symptoms of autism is that it is harder to accept changes and new things. Any changes in daily life are enough to drive them crazy.

For example, every time when the season changes, Zhiheng loses his temper at Grace, and even refuses to go out. The reason is: "What about the president?" Later, the doctor suggested that Grace should be one or two days in advance before any changes in her life. Tell Zhiheng and explain the reasons. You can also simulate different life situations on weekdays to reduce their anxiety.

"You should not trap him, but instead have more opportunities for him to participate in different activities, so that he can learn to listen to people's instructions and know to abide by the rules."

Although Zhiheng brought so much "trouble" to others, Grace never "buried" him. She even let Zhiheng participate in various activities, such as skating, playing basketball and painting, to increase her son and others. The opportunity to get along with him improves his expressive skills. "We should not trap him. "If my mother gets old, she will quit her job to take care of her."

Autistic Youth Zhiheng

Because Zhiheng had the opportunity to contact the outside world, he was accidentally discovered by the school teacher about his sports talents.

Zhiheng was recommended to participate in the Special Olympics and achieved good results in 2013 and 2015 respectively, winning the men's snow 4 x 100 relay silver medal and the men's 400m silver medal successively.

Now Zhiheng can not only go out alone, but also take care of most of his daily life. The head of the school also arranges for him to take care of a rooftop farm part-time. Grace is pleased with Zhiheng’s progress. Zhiheng promised her, "If my mother gets old I will quit my job to take care of her mother", which made Grace feel very comfortable.

Gu Dingxuan feels more sincere about getting along with people with autism

The artist Gu Dingxuan, who is the care ambassador of the Aipai Autism Fund this year, once played an autistic student in a TV drama in Hong Kong and Taiwan. In order to prepare for the role, he took the initiative to understand autism, which actually subverted his inherent autism impression.

"In fact, he expresses his emotions more directly. The "language" used to express may be different from our usual way of speaking." He explained that the specific "language" used by people with autism to express their thoughts can be text or It can be an image.

Gu Dingxuan also pointed out that except for the way in which they express themselves, autistic people are basically the same as others in life, but they need to spend more patience with them.

He also thinks that people with autism are more straightforward in expressing their emotions, which makes him feel very sincere, calling on the public not to put stereotypes on them, "Everyone has different places, so we should not label anyone." Remind the public that they should be bold enough to know people who are different from themselves.

The Aipei Autism Fund will hold a live broadcast sharing session on the "World Autism Awareness Day" on April 2.

Care ambassador Gu Dingxuan (Zeno), autistic child Shanjia and his father, as well as autistic youth Zhiheng and his mother, will play games with everyone to learn more about autism and share their experiences. Watch and welcome public participation.
