Two independent studies published Tuesday in the journals Nature Astronomy and Nature Communications revealed that Comet 2I / Borisov is the most pristine and undisturbed star to have traveled the solar system.
The researchers found that the comet's dust is nothing like anything they had seen before, and they anticipated that the way it is shaped indicates that it has been conforming to materials from different parts of the solar system.
