When the British government announced on December 14 that it had identified a new variant of the virus that was potentially more contagious, France was on a ridge line.
The fall outbreak appears to be under control after a month and a half of restrictions, with around 11,000 new cases recorded every day.
But the goal set by Emmanuel Macron in October (5,000 daily contaminations) has not been reached.
However, the second confinement was lifted on December 15, replaced by a curfew at 8 p.m.
