The Kiryat Malachi municipality rejected a proposal to increase building rights in the Carmei Hanadiv neighborhood.
This is a request from Gindi Holdings, discussed in the local committee for planning and construction, to increase 20% in 800 housing units under the Shebes Law, an addition of 160 housing units.
The committee's chairman, Mayor Eliyahu Zohar, decided to reject the request due to the overcrowding in the neighborhood. In the Carmei Hanadiv neighborhood, about 1,440 housing units were to be built, but about a decade ago it was decided to change the master plan and approve about 3,200 housing units.
"The committee's policy is not to oppose the addition of Shebes in general," the resolution said, "but this neighborhood cannot be included in the policy, as it is crowded anyway."

"We have not added housing units to the neighborhood and we have no such intention in the future," the mayor said.
"Since I took office I realized the magnitude of the default made here in doubling the housing units. I decided to take a number of actions: First we have not approved an increase in this neighborhood to date, and we have also postponed the last. I demanded developers increase the number of parking spaces from 1 to 1.3 or 1.4 (depending on In the size of the building), and we hired a professional company to prepare a program for public buildings. "
These days, a residence, kindergartens, a school and a park of about 10 dunams are being built in the neighborhood.
Later on, a community center, playgrounds and more will also be built.
