Members of the Directorate of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection in Rural Damascus organized 76 rationing controls, one of which was directed at a wholesaler of sugar in the Jaramana region who distributes the material at an extra price.
Imran Slakho, Director of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection in Rural Damascus, stated in a statement to SANA that the directorate’s agents had arrested a merchant in Jaramana district with 20 tons of white sugar, which he sold at prices higher than the specified prices, an increase of 700 pounds with the intention of making an impact on the supply of the market. Slakho explained that the other seizures included a fuel station in Al-Otaiba area for the violation of collecting smart cards, a shortage of kilos, and 4 ovens in the areas of Yabroud, Harna, Al-Raheeba and Al-Otaiba, for violations of bad bread making, lack of weight, and selling at an extra price, as well as bread dependents in Beit Taima who charge an increase in prices and included gas distributors in Al-Rahiba, Akbar and Kafr. Hour, Hafir El Tahta, Sahnaya, and Yabroud, with extra-price charges.
Slakho indicated that the rest of the seizures varied between production violations, offering materials contrary to specifications, giving illegal invoices, possession of expired materials, selling at an extra price, and materials of unknown origin.
