However, the relevant figures do not include subdivided households living in industrial and commercial buildings, nor do they include other unsuitable housing units.

According to the survey, the median monthly rent is 4,800 yuan, and the monthly rent for the most subdivided housing units ranges from 4,000 yuan to 4999 yuan, accounting for 22.5%; and more than 8,000 yuan is also 5.7%.

According to the report, more than one-third of the households have not been adjusted for rent. Among the two-thirds of households whose rents have been adjusted, the rent of 75.6% of the households has been adjusted upwards, with a median rate of 7%.

The subdivided rent control research team commissioned a research organization to conduct a survey. In all private buildings over 15 years old, there are 100,943 subdivided houses out of 29,897 units, with an average of 3.38 subdivided houses per unit.

As for other types of unsuitable housing, the number of rooftop houses is the largest, with more than 4,000. There are also 3415 and 1,165 cubicles and space warehouses.

The report pointed out that most of the subdivided houses are in buildings 50 years of age or older, and about 35% of the units are divided into 4 to 6 subdivided houses.

According to the survey, because people in the industrial and commercial buildings are reluctant to participate in the survey, based on 303 interviews, it is estimated that 6,927 of the industrial and commercial buildings are used as residential subdivisions.

The age of subdivided households is between 25 and 44 years old, with a median income of 15,000

According to the report, a total of 226,000 people live in subdivided housing in Hong Kong, with a total of about 110,000 households, of which the largest population lives in Kowloon, accounting for about 60%.

The age group of the population living in sub-divided houses is at most 25 to 44 years old, accounting for 33.2%, followed by 45 to 64 years old, accounting for 31.8%.

The median monthly income of subdivided households is 15,000 yuan, which is lower than the median monthly household income of 33,000 yuan in Hong Kong.

Among them, the most households have a monthly income of 20,000 yuan or more, accounting for 37.6%, but 11.1% of households have a monthly income of less than 6,000 yuan.

More than half of the households have lived in sub-divided houses for more than 3 years.

According to a survey conducted by the Census and Statistics Department in 2016, the number of sub-divided housing units was 92,656, and there were about 91,000 households, with a total of 209,000 people living in sub-divided housing.

About 60% have not specified the method of contacting the landlord, and more than 60% have not specified the termination. During the notice period of the tenancy agreement, about 80% did not specify a rent increase.
