Ankara-Sana

Turkey's Constitutional Court rejected the request by the Attorney General to ban the opposition HDP activity.

The court returned its decision "due to the lack of evidence in the file to support the allegations of the Public Prosecution Office."

The HDP, the third opposition party in Turkey, is facing a harsh crackdown since the 2016 coup attempt, with the arrest of a number of its elected members, including the party's leader, Saladin Demirtas, who is still in prison despite repeated calls for his release.

It is noteworthy that Erdogan's regime has launched severe crackdowns since the coup attempt in July 2016 with the aim of pursuing its opponents and opponents inside the country, where it arrested and dismissed tens of thousands of civilians and military personnel.
