The female, with her various states, emotions and outlook on life, constituted the most prominent theme of the works of the plastic artist Afaf Kharma.
On her artistic experience that continues for forty years, Khorma explained in an interview with Cultural Sana that she draws her themes from daily life, drawing all the beautiful things that fall before her eyes that others may not pay attention to, but she sees her with her artistic vision and attracts colors, light and shadows.
Khurma deals in her paintings with different techniques and colors, including watercolor and acrylic. As for pastel, he has the largest share in her work.
Khorma, who is currently holding her second solo exhibition in Subhi Shuaib Gallery for Fine Arts in Homs, which includes 29 paintings of different sizes. She finds that women throughout history have been a symbol of beauty, fertility and sacrifice, and she is an inspiration to artists. In another, you feel a feminine beauty, which is reflected in the silent nature.
Kharma believes that the plastic life in her city, Homs, has been and will remain the greatest supporter of the art movement in Syria.
It is noteworthy that Afaf Kharma was born in Homs in 1951, a graduate of the Faculty of Fine Arts from the University of Damascus, and she studied art education in Syrian high schools and institutes and has participated in many individual and group exhibitions inside and outside the country, such as the Fine Artists Union and the annual fall exhibitions.
