The numbers of the 26 municipalities of

Greater Buenos Aires

confirm that the

second wave

of coronavirus infections has already arrived.

And with force.

During the last week of March, the rate of infected persons per day in the suburbs increased by almost

60%

compared to the last week of February.

Both in the communes of the South zone, as well as the North and West of the GBA, there were a total of

2,514 new neighbors infected every 24 hours

between Monday 22 and Sunday 28 March.

While between the same dates but the previous month, that figure was 1,580.

These percentages

scared

the provincial authorities and were the trigger for Governor

Axel Kicillof to

decide to adjust the turnstile of

restrictions,

including, in a first round, shops with new limits on night hours and limits on the number of people who can participate in social gatherings. .

The

North

of the Conurbano is the one that is most complicated.

Between PIlar, San Fernando, Vicente López, Tigre, Escobar, San Isidro, San Martín and Malvinas Argentinas they added 630 cases per day during that week of March against 382 in the same period last month.

That is, a rise of

68%.

It is followed by the

South

region

, more populous since there are nine municipalities that group from Avellaneda, Lanús and Lomas de Zamora and up to Florencio Varela, Berazategui and Ezeiza.

Always in the same weeks, an average of 1,023 daily infections were registered against 620 a month ago:

65%

more.

The

West

also had a significant increase but appears further behind: 852 daily cases against 578 in February, giving a growth somewhat lower than the rest of the GBA but

just as worrying:

almost 50% higher.

There is a lot of disparity between the municipalities.

There were three communes in which the rate of daily cases

doubled

: San Fernando (129% more), Berazategui (106%) and José C. Paz (101%).

Then, almost multiplying by two the infections, Esteban Echeverría, Avellaneda and Escobar appear with an increase of 90% and a little less Malvinas Argentinas and San Miguel.

Rare this of the numbers, but Ituzaingó registered only a rise of 22%, followed by Hurlingham and Merlo who did not reach 30%.

There is a key data to correctly weigh all these calculations:

the number of tests and the positivity

that it gives in each district to be able to compare them.

Amount of people.

In the Tigre Delta, there is still no limit to the public at the outdoor tables.

What seems to be demonstrated a priori is that

there

is

not

necessarily a relationship between the growth of cases and the municipalities that

granted the most authorizations

.

Two examples are

San Isidro and Vicente López: they

were the first communes that enabled runners, party halls, tennis and bars, for example, and they do not appear among the most complicated.

What did they say in the Municipalities?

In on, all the mayors indicate that they will align themselves with the new measures taken by the Province.

"We are going to increase the controls to guarantee that the sanitary protocols stipulated by the Province are complied with," they repeat in the municipalities before consulting the media.

Although they warn that

there will be resistance

from the people and, above all, from the merchants.

The communal chiefs admit in a low voice: “We

cannot be commissioners of the Province

and go out en masse to close the bars that according to the new provision are allowed to operate until 2 in the morning.

Its owners hope this long weekend to raise a little more in the midst of so much malaria.

Nor can we go into family homes to see if there are more than 10 people in social gatherings ”.

Patrolling in the gastronomic center of Lanusita, in Lanús.

There have been controls since last year, when the bars reopened and more outdoor tables were set up.

Thus, in the Conurbano the commune authorities assure on the one hand that they will go out to control at Easter that the new suspensions are fulfilled and will comply with the measures announced by Governor Axel Kicillof, but they also mark limits.

But they also warn that almost no one is willing to mass closures.

“We are going to base ourselves, as we did during the entire pandemic period, on what the provincial government dictates.

The AMBA is not divided by a street or an avenue, so we will not take isolated measures and will act according to the protocols or decisions of the Province.

If we are reinforcing the communication campaign to intensify prevention measures towards the neighbors ”, they point out in one of the official communes attached to the river.

On Tuesday, after the announcement of the return to the commercial “curfew”, from the municipalities there was a coincidence in supporting the provincial provisions that everyone considered reasonable, and controlling that the new suspensions are complied with.

"We are going to strengthen the controls to apply the measures implemented by the Province," they expressed, for example, in Esteban Echeverría, and in the other municipalities the position was similar.

The Disco "Mi Club", by Banfield, the largest in the South, works as a restaurant.

The bowling alleys are not enabled.

At the meeting of the Lanús Emergency Committee, Gustavo Sieli, local Health Secretary, carried out a detailed analysis of the increase in positive cases of Covid-19, which went from 60 daily cases taking an average of 7 days, to 99 average daily cases towards the end of March.

Exactly 65% more, which put Lanús right in the average of the regional average.

In Las Lomitas and Lanusita, the two gastronomic poles of the region where the time change is most felt (they were closing at 5AM and 4AM, respectively), the cut at 2 is not seen as something serious, as long as it is not cut yet plus.

Even so, in the bars they admit that the kids will continue in the streets and that the time limit generates that clandestine parties multiply.

In Lanús - the only district in the South with a political character opposed to that of Axel Kicillof's government - they considered the measure "logical".

And they thought that the proposed schedule "will not affect the billing of businesses, since the strong schedule is from 20 to 1".

But they pointed out that the situation could be more complex if the ban were extended: "If it affected peak hours, what we see is that there would be great resistance from traders."

In Lomas, meanwhile, they indicated that they will maintain current controls "appropriate to the new schedule," that is, with the limit that had been extended until 5, again at 2.

Clandestine party in Florencio Varela.

In March they thwarted more than a dozen.

"At the moment we have not been notified, but it will arrive", speculated on Tuesday afternoon the owner of a bar in Santa Rosa, on the border of Morón and Ituzaingó. "Basically the business already has to do magic to survive because all the changes made a big impact.

In addition, such confusion is generated that people stop attending again. "

"They are going to lose workforce again and once again we do not know if we are going to be able to sustain the structure and chain of payments", they synthesized pessimistically in another place.

Some, on the other hand, moderated their forecasts.

"They complicate us in that we have people at the table until 3:30 or 4 in the morning, therefore it reduces our billing. On the other hand, it allows us to continue working and it will surely reduce the night and hopefully the clandestine, which we believe that it is the main source of contagion ", they assured in a pub.

In La Matanza and other West GBA parties, tables were set up inside bars and restaurants at the end of 2020.

In Merlo they assured that the Province now sends vaccines due to the amount of population and that in this way they hope to grow.

As of Monday it had 29,164 cases, with 22,960 recovered and 960 deaths.

And they vaccinated 25,205 neighbors.

Tres de Febrero adds 23,497 infected, 18,093 recovered and 778 deaths, with 25,947 vaccinated.

Moreno counts 29,475 patients since the beginning of the pandemic, with 22,679 recovered and 755 deaths.

They applied doses to 34,030 people.

Ituzaingó, another on the podium of the most vaccinated, has 11,299 accumulated cases and 8,498 recovered, with 420 fatalities.

And 19,450 immunized.

Hurlingham, with similar characteristics to Ituzaingó, has 10,912 confirmed, 8,520 recovered and 382 dead.

And among those vaccinated it adds up to 21,560.

San Miguel counts 20,563 cases, with 16,922 recovered and 511 deaths.

In addition, 15,821 residents were vaccinated.

José C Paz has 16,184 cases with 10,399 recovered and 486 deaths.

Those vaccinated total 18,805.
