Sports betting on the internet accounted for the majority of complaints, which most often related to small sums, recorded by the Games Mediator, said the latter in his 2020 report, relating to its first year of activity.

In 15 months of operation, the mediator received 1,420 claims, more than half of which (761) were deemed inadmissible, most often because the player had failed to make a prior written claim to the gaming operator, reads -on in the report released Thursday.
However, “
manifestly unfounded or abusive
”
requests
only represented 1% of the total.
Sports betting represents the overwhelming majority of mediation requests (82%).
The amount of the dispute was low, “
equal to or less than 100 euros
” in two-thirds of the cases.

Among the disputes, the closing of the account of a player who is still a minor when opening it, having led to the “
confiscation of assets
”, or limits on wagers justified by “
suspicion of money laundering
” or “
use
”.

But these reasons must be clearly explained by the operator, says the mediator, whose role "
is very often reduced
" to informing about the regulation because "
it was not previously satisfied with the legitimate request for explanation of the player
" .
Of the 14 authorized operators who have been the subject of sports betting complaints to the mediator, "

In circle games, Reel Malta Limited concentrates 36% of complaints ahead of Winamax (35%), Betclic (10%) and PMU (8%).
Horse racing has given rise to few complaints and lottery games, over which the FDJ has a monopoly, have been the subject of 30 mediation requests.
